How do I use the VPN to connect to network resources from off-campus locations?
Answer
Connecting from off campus
To connect to network resources (network storage, printer webpages, etc.) when you're not on campus, first you must install the VPN service. Follow these steps:
- If you have not created your ArchPass Duo account, you will need to do that first. Please see this article for information on creating the Archpass Duo account. (Video Instructions) Archpass webpage
- If you have never logged into the VPN, point your web browser to: remote.uga.edu Here is a walkthrough from EITS on this for various devices
- Log in with your myid username and password. You will need to use your device to generate the Duo logon key.
- First time login will install the Cisco AnyConnect client. Launch this app, and when prompted, enter remote.uga.edu as the VPN name.
- On subsequent logins, the remote.uga.edu VPN should be preserved, and you can launch AnyConnect from the icon in your system tray.
- Once connected your computer will function as if it was on the PAWS-Secure network, so you should be able to connect to any of the network resources above just as if you were on campus.
- For instance to get to the class folders, you would open Windows Explorer and just type in the address bar \\ced-sweetgum.msmyid.uga.edu
- Or to access printer information, just go to printers.ced.uga.edu in your web browser, and the site will connect as if you were on campus.
