How do I print large format documents?

How do I print documents larger than 11x17 at CED?

Answer

Large format Plotting

  • CED operates and maintains large format output devices to support the instructional needs of the college. All plot requests should be tied to a course or service-learning project within the college.
    • Plotting for personal use should be done at Tate Copy & Print.
    •
  • All plots will be on 24# bright white paper unless other arrangements have been made in advance with the IT Director.
  • All plots on standard paper will be charged to the student’s printing account at a rate of $1.25 per square foot.
  • Plotting billed to externally or internally funded projects must be setup in advance with the CED Systems Administrator

  • Plotting procedures:
    • Plotting request are submitted to the IT Helpdesk using the “Large Format Plot Request” at the bottom of the list of options on the left side of the printers.ced.uga.edu website.
    • Plot requests are processed during normal business hours.  Completed plot will be rolled title block out and place in the stand outside the Owens Resource Center
    • Graduate Students can make arrangements with the assigned MLA or MUPD graduate assistant to plot outside of business hours using the 24” plotter in Denmark or Tanner.

Typically plots are complete in a couple of hours. During periods of high workload or large queue volume plots will be complete within one business day.

The Process

  1. We can not make any adjustments to your files prior to plotting. (if it is the incorrect document size, or looks off in some way to you, it will plot that way).  Please double check everything to ensure your document is a print ready PDF file that is flattened and sized appropriately. (For some tips on making sure your PDF is properly optimized, check out this FAQ (opens in new window).

  2.  For students, there are two options:
    1. If you are on campus, or connected to the VPN Go to http:\\printers.ced.uga.edu
      1. Check your balance, and add print credits if needed (plots are $1.25/sf).
      2. In the bottom left is a link to the "Large Format Plot Request." This opens the plot request form in a new window. Complete the form and submit along with your file.
      3. Once the form and file are submitted, sit back and relax...we'll print the job and you'll receive an email upon completion (or if any issues arise).
    2. Alternatively, go directly to the submission form here (No VPN needed):  https://ugeorgia.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9o5NSJ735B2lo0K

  3. For faculty/staff
    1. If plotting for general class use or departmental use continue to the form below.
    2. If plotting for continuing ed., service learning, or projects where invoicing/tracking is needed, contact Tech Services (cedhelp@uga.edu) first. We'll give you a code or prefix to use, and/or a subfolder to drop the files into, then continue to the form below.
    3. Go to the submission form here:  https://ugeorgia.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9o5NSJ735B2lo0K
