What are the terms for equipment checkout?

Equipment Use: 

Equipment is for use by College of Environment + Design students, faculty, and staff 

Equipment is for academic coursework, instruction, service, or research purposes 

Items are not considered returned until all components of the kit are returned 

By checking out equipment the patron agrees that they have read and understand any operations manual, safety guidelines, risks, warnings, and disclaimers 

Borrowers agree to contact the Owens Resource Center in the following situations: 

Equipment is damaged, lost, or stolen 

They cannot honor return equipment on time due to emergency 

Upon return, the equipment will be wiped down with disinfectant. iPads and Laptops will be erased of any personal data and restored to a clean state 

Booking times vary by item and are capped at 7 days 

iPads and Laptops bookings can be extended once for a total of 14 days (about 2 weeks) 

Renewals are not guaranteed 

 

Overdue items, fines, and lost or damaged items: 

Patrons will be held responsible for any loss or damage of equipment. 

Overdue fines of $1 per hour (calculated during open hours; the maximum fine is $25) will be applied for ALL late items beginning one hour after the scheduled return time. 

Items reported lost will incur a $60 fine plus the replacement cost of the lost item. 

Outstanding fines will result in banned access to checkout equipment and may result in holds placed on student transcripts and registration until the fine is paid. 

Overdue items with a value of $500 or more that are overdue for 30 days will be reported as missing/stolen to the UGA Police Department. Users will bookings overdue by 30 days will be banned from booking equipment for the remainder of the semester.
